About
UNIT OVERVIEW Before we can talk about contracts, property, or lawsuits, we have to answer one foundational question: what even is law, and why should you care? This unit sets the stage. Students learn what separates ethical from legal (spoiler: they're not the same thing), how the court system is organized and how cases move through it, and why professional standards are the foundation of every successful business career. Unit 1 prepares students to distinguish between legal and ethical behavior, trace how cases move through the state and federal court systems, and explore their own professional code of conduct. Duration: 4–5 weeks · ~12–15 sessions TEKS: (1) Employability skills; (2) Ethics; (3) Judicial system
