Our Story

At I Learn My Way, we believe that every person is gifted and that learning should help students discover, develop, and confidently use those gifts.

This belief was shaped long before I earned my MBA from the The University of Texas at Austin or became a certified business education teacher. It began with my family.

I grew up surrounded by talented people. My grandmother could sit down at a piano and play beautifully by ear. One aunt had a remarkable singing voice, another was a gifted artist, my mother had an extraordinary eye for decorating and design, and my grandfather was a master carpenter whose craftsmanship spoke for itself. I also had one uncle whose incredible skill with nunchucks and martial arts techniques could have led him to become a martial arts expert, and another uncle whose quick wit, storytelling ability, and natural sense of humor could have made him a successful stand-up comedian.

Yet despite their talents, many of them never fully recognized the value of their gifts or lacked the confidence to pursue them beyond their everyday lives. Watching this inspired a lifelong conviction: talent is everywhere, but opportunities, encouragement, and self-belief are not.

As the founder of a nonprofit youth organization, I spent years working with young people and saw the same pattern again and again. Students often possessed incredible abilities, creativity, and potential, but many simply needed someone to help them recognize what was already inside them. That experience reinforced my belief that every individual has unique strengths worth developing.

When I later chose to homeschool my two children, that philosophy became personal. Rather than forcing them into a one-size-fits-all approach to learning, I encouraged them to explore their interests, build on their strengths, and learn in ways that worked for them. The results became my greatest proof that personalized learning works. One child graduated from the The University of Texas at Austin, and the other is a student at Texas A&M University.

After homeschooling, I entered the classroom as a business education teacher and discovered a passion for Career and Technical Education (CTE). What I love most about CTE is that it is practical, expansive, and deeply connected to students' futures. While core academic subjects provide essential foundations, it is often through electives such as business, entrepreneurship, marketing, technology, design, and career exploration that students truly discover who they are and what excites them.

That realization became the foundation for I Learn My Way.

Our mission is to help learners uncover their strengths, develop real-world skills, and gain the confidence to pursue meaningful futures. Through engaging, innovative, and career-focused learning experiences, we empower students to explore possibilities, think creatively, and recognize the value of their unique gifts.

I Learn My Way was founded on a simple truth: gifts come in many forms. Some people can build, some can create, some can perform, some can lead, and some can innovate. Too often, those gifts go unnoticed or undeveloped. We exist to help learners recognize their strengths, embrace their potential, and create futures that align with who they truly are.

Because success does not come from fitting into someone else's path.

Success comes from discovering your own.

That is why we call it I Learn My Way.
